Best Oak Quality

High Quality Raw Material

BEST OAK® chips are created from only select, healthy oak supplied by longstanding partners practicing controlled, sustainable forestry. Only the best French Oak becomes BEST OAK® chips.

Uniform Particle Size

BEST OAK® is milled and fractionated before toasting. After undergoing additional quality control measures, the 24 month aged oak is milled using a JRS-developed special process that enables it to be reduced - dust-free - to a specified particle size. Toasting takes place after the particle structure has been homogenized. Uniform particle size is a key quality characteristic of BEST OAK®, even during the toasting process.

Computer-Aided Manufacturing

A modern fluidized-bed toasting plant developed specifically for BEST OAK® ensures gentle toasting that enhances the oak aromas. The computer-aided system enables precise monitoring and control of various toasting temperature profiles, ensuring the same temperature profile for all chips. Uneven toasting in a batch is common with open flame toasting. This is avoided with the specially developed fluidized-bed toasting procedure developed exclusively for J .Rettenmaier & Söhne BEST OAK®.

BEST OAK® products are packed in special aroma-safe packaging immediately after toasting. This aroma-safe packaging

Continual Quality Process

Careful selection of raw materials used in production and a specially designed sensitive process form the foundation of BEST OAK® products. Combined into a single process, milling and toasting are followed immediately by packaging in aroma-preserving bags to protect the volatility of the aroma. And the final critical factor to ensuring high-quality BEST OAK® products is the expertise and dedication of JRS employees.
